Arthritis
There are two categories of Arthritis. Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. There are
between 115 and 152 different types of arthritis. The Medical Dictionary definitions are
as follows: Arthritis: can be infective, autoimmune, or traumatic in origin. Name stems
from the Greek word "arthron", meaning joint. Osteoarthritis: Noninflammatory
degenerative joint disease, characterized by loss of the articular cartilage (which means
narrowing of the joint space), hypertrophy of the bone margins, and changes in the
synovial membrane. Pain and stiffness accompany it, particularly after prolonged activity.
It is caused by inflammation, breakdown, and eventual loss of the cartilage of the joints.
Rheumatoid Arthritis: Chronic inflammatory disease in which there is distruction of
joints. Considered by some to be an autoimmune disorder in which immune complexes are
formed in joints and excite an inflammatory response (complex mediated hypersensitivity ).
Cell-mediated (type 1V) hypersensitivity also occurs and macrophages accumulate. This in
turn leads to the destruction on the synovial lining. Can cause inflammation of tissue in
other areas of the body
(such as the lungs, heart, and eyes). A chronic and progressive course is common with
joint deformities.
Arthritis claims a new victim every 33 seconds. According to the Arthritis
National Research Foundation, arthritis is America's No. 1 crippling disease. It is
progressive and erodes the physical endurance and pain tolerance of its sufferers.
Presently, more than 40 million Americans suffer from the disease, half of which are under
the age of 65, and even more tragic, juvenile arthritis affects an estimated 285,000
children in the U.S. As reported in Arthritis and Rheumatism, by the year 2020 an
estimated 18.2 % of the population will suffer from arthritis, up 15% since 1995. The
attention towards preventing and treating arthritis is skyrocketing.
Drug-based treatments, regardless of the relief they provide, don't
address the cause of the problem. Worse, they may interfere with healing. Side effects
from common drugs include bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal
toxicity, liver and kidney damage, suppressed immune system and bone loss.
In 1999, Velvet Antler was scientifically substantiated by research and
clinical studies, in compliance with FDA regulations "to support healthy joint
structure and function". Velvet Antler has achieved a status that many other valuable
nutritional supplements do not have, mainly because of its content of chondroitin sulfate
and collagen II. Whole Velvet Antler is the bases of the products formulated by Impax
Therapy.
Velvet Antler is the soft, nutrient abundant antler tissue which is cast
off and regenerated every year by male elk and red deer. Velvet is a renewable resource
with special biologically active properties. Velvet is collected and processed utilizing
hygienic and humane methods without detriment to the animal.
Unlike other makers of nutritional supplements who include a part of the
antler in their formulas, Impax Therapy uses the whole antler. Vitamins, minerals,
antioxidants, and other nutrients work better in groups, as found in nature. An unclear
force propels nature's assemblage of nutrients into purposeful union - each part
influenced by the other part. Despite the fact that technology allows us to zero in on
smaller and smaller, we have yet to grasp all of the reasons for the success of the
gestalt, the total picture.
Velvet Antler is a whole food when the whole antler is used. Velvet Antler
is commonly known as an adaptogen. That refers to its reported ability to normalize many
body functions that are out of balance. It is theorized that these adaptogenic properties
are responsible for the legendary, wide spectrum health benefits which can only be
explained by the unique, synergistic activity of Velvet's vast nutrient profile. Velvet
Antler could very well be one of the most significant, scientifically proven,
single-source nutrients addressing the needs of the millions of individuals seeking
a safe, natural alternative for joint and connective tissue support. It is no wonder why
Natural Pharmacy, a trusted media source, has named Velvet Antler one of the "hot new
supplements for the year 2000 and beyond". Until recently, Velvet Antler has not been
available in the American health food marketplace.
Whole Velvet Antler is a natural alternative to arthritis medications.
A natural substance found in high concentrations in Velvet Antler appears to be
natures best remedy for osteoarthritis. This compound is glucosamine. In the body, the
main action of glucosamine on jjoints is to stimulate the manufacture of substances
necessary for joint repair. Glucosamine has also been shown to exert a protective effect
against joint destruction and exerts a powerful therapeutic affect in osteoarthritis. By
addressing the root of the problem, glucosamine sulphate, and the growth factors along
with the other constituents found in Velvet Antler not only improves the symptoms,
including the pain, it also helps the body repair the damaged joints. These same
properties, found in Velvet Antler can inhibit the immune system from attacking the joint
cartilage, resulting in relief for those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, and allowing
for the cartilage to repair itself.
