FDA In
1999 research and clinical studies done by two consulting firms, Nutrinfo of Watertown,
Massachusetts and Tradeworks Group, Inc of Brattleboro, Vermont scientifically
substantiated velvet antler. These two firms, working in compliance with FDA regulations
substantiated the fact that velvet antler provides nutritional support for joint structure
and function.
"Velvet antler has achieved a status that many other valuable
nutritional supplements do not have, mainly because of its content of chondroitin sulfate
and collagen." (Kamen, 107)
Peter McNeary, president of the Tradeworks Group, had this to say about velvet antler
in a speech presented to the NAEBA board, "Velvet antler is a veritable super food.
Velvet's health promoting and rejuvenating properties so well chronicled in the orient for
over 2,000 years are just now beginning to attract health conscious Westerners, primarily
by 'word of mouth.' What is particularly interesting is the remarkably wide spectrum of
nutritional components makes for a potent health tonic that positively addresses many
illnesses and imbalances in men and women."
Other health benefit claims are being researched to prove the benefits of velvet antler
supplements for supporting the immune system, anti-aging, muscle strength and endurance,
and sexual vitality and osteoperosis. |
